The ABCs of Gratitude: D = Live Your Dreams!

Gratitude is a powerful tool that can positively impact your life. Not only does it improve your mental and emotional well-being, but it also can help you live your dreams. When you cultivate a sense of Gratitude, you develop a mindset that allows you to attract and manifest your desires more effectively.

What does it mean to live your dreams? It involves recognizing that happiness and fulfillment are experienced when you are aligned with your passions and talents. It means having a clear vision, setting specific goals, and taking small steps along the way. Living your dreams requires commitment, persistence, and the willingness to do the work of moving your dreams to reality.

After studying Gratitude for several years, in 2016, I decided I wanted to write a book on the subject. I had no idea what the structure of the book would look like; I just knew I had to write it, so I made plans to attend a writer's retreat in February 2017 to begin my Gratitude book journey. My birthday was in February, and I couldn't think of a better gift for myself.

But the unimaginable happened on January 9, 2017, a month before the scheduled retreat. My daughter, Mia, suffered a massive stroke at the age of 37, a stroke that, without warning left her permanently disabled and threw me into the role of caregiver.

But I didn't abandon my commitment to write a book on Gratitude. What I did was dive deeper into learning to be grateful in all things. So for a year, beginning with day one of Mia's hospitalization, I recorded every good, bad, sad, and joyful experience in my Gratitude journal, and it only required a few minutes of my time each day.

Those daily entries became what I now call Gratitude "Blessons” (a combination of lessons and blessings). Two years and five months after the stroke, my Gratitude book, The Stroke That Touched My Heart, was in print. By no means was it the book I had in mind when I made plans to attend the retreat. What it was, instead, was evidence of the transformative power of Gratitude, and I did it one small change at a time.

When you live your dreams, you experience a sense of fulfillment and joy. You wake up excited and motivated to pursue your passions each day. You feel alive and connected to the world around you. You inspire others by living as an example of what is possible when you dare to follow your dreams.
